Civic Awareness & Eco-sustainable Development
A think tank session was held on 10 January 2019 for the first time in Lebanon at “Fondation Diane” premises, connecting stakeholders from the cement industries and key players in waste management, aiming to find alternative fuels for the cement industry by using RDF, proven to be economically and environmentally-friendly. This RDF Community served as a lobbying group for policy reforms in the cement industries in Lebanon.
Dr. Fouad Jaafar:
“RDF is solid non-hazardous waste that is not economically or technologically recyclable which can be co-fired as a substitute for fuels in the cement industry or in waste-to-energy plants, as a preferred alternative over landfilling or mass burning”.
